It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of José (Joe) de Jesus on July 20, 2017, at the age of 70 with his family by his side. Survived by his mother Catarina Goncalves (Portugal), his children Daniel de Jesus (Christina McIntyer), Nicole de Jesus Kovac (Stanko Kovac), granddaughter Hanna Kovac, sister in law Dimontina de Jesus (Portugal) and nephew Filip de Jesus (Portugal).  Predeceased by his father Carlos de Jesus and brother Manuel de Jesus.

 José was born November 29, 1946 in Santa Catarina, Portugal.  He immigrated from Portugal to Canada in the early 70's in search of a better life. His first stop was Montreal and from there set off to cold Northern Ontario. He began his forestry career in Caramat and ended up settling in Geraldton where he started his family. José enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and most of all spending time with his children. He was a kind and gentle man who was always in good spirits. He enjoyed going for coffee and telling stories. Dart playing was a hobby he enjoyed for many years. He was a long time running member of the Geraldton Legion.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Fawcett Funeral Home on Saturday July 29th from 1pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 2pm. Interment will take place after the service at the Pinegrove Cemetery. For those wishing, donations may be made to the Northern Cancer Foundation.
