Connie MacKenzie Obituary

The family of Connie Arlene MacKenzie (Harris) sadly announces her passing on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Connie passed away peacefully at Wilson Memorial General Hospital, Marathon ON. She was born on December 30, 1941, the youngest of Mildred and Vaughan Harris, in Thessalon ON. The family moved to Marathon when she was five and she spent her life there. She married Willard MacKenzie and they raised three daughters. Connie enjoyed bowling and curling, especially “bonspielling”, as well as swimming, camping, and spending time at the family camp in Coldwell. In later years she took up various crafts and was a dedicated volunteer, including as President of the Senior’s Club and most recently working in the Hospital gift shop. She and Willard travelled regularly to visit family and friends throughout Canada and the US. Connie is survived by her husband of 59 years Willard, brother Neil Harris (Bev), sisters-in-law Joyce MacKenzie and Evola MacKenzie, daughter Lisa (Carl Clutchey), grandsons Shaughn, Scott, and Linden all of Marathon. Daughter Dawn (Steve Walentyski), granddaughters Teagan and Taylor of Brampton ON, daughter Vaughna of Toronto ON, sisters-in-law Mary-lu MacKenzie of Kelowna BC, Jean Grant of Fulton MO, and Shirley Crawford of San Carlos CA. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Connie was predeceased by her parents, brother Bill Harris and his wife Shirley, brothers-in-law Ellison, Frank, Doug, and Elwood MacKenzie, brother-in-law David Crawford, sister-in-law Betsy Cain, and nephews David MacKenzie and Brian MacKenzie. She will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 26 at St John’s United Church in Marathon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wilson Memorial General Hospital.
