It is with great sadness that the family of Edith Mary Jordan(nee Urwin) announces her passing on October 23,2017. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Lesley (Wilf), Duff, John (Claudette); grandchildren Eileen, Adam, Elissa, David, Kristine; great-grandchildren Jack (Peanut), Joshua, Abigail, Marshall, Bennett. She was predeceased by husband Jack (May 14,2002), father William, mother Evelyn, sister Joyce, brother Tom. A funeral service to be held 11am Friday, October 27 at St. John's United Church, Marathon. Edith was born in Blaydon-on-Tyne, England. She served in the British Army; married Jack July 7,1945 and came to Canada as a war bride. They settled in the newly developing Marathon where they raised their 3 children. A true pioneer she became active in the community. She was a lifetime member of the Legion & Curling Club serving in many capacities with an emphasis on volunteering unstintingly. She belonged to the Senior's Club; participated in many activities: darts, card games of all kinds, rummoli and often worked at the election voting stations. She retired from the Credit Union after many years of service. She was amazingly talented with her hands; sewing, crocheting, knitting; a whiz at crossword puzzles, a devout reader, superb cook. She had a Can-do attitude: "If YOU can do it; so can I". She unconditionally loved & supported her family and will be dearly missed. Memorial donations in memory of Edith may be made to the charity of your choice.
