ELLEN VICTORIA (BLAKE) MURPHY (nee BROOK)
With heavy hearts the family has come together to celebrate the life of their mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She passed away quietly on May 1 at the age of 86. Mom was predeceased by her parents , her first husband, her siblings Jordy Brook, Mabel Law, Shirley Brook, Vera Mailman, Louis Brook, Ivan Brook & granddaughter Shannon Blake
She leaves behind her brothers Max, Mylles, John and Godfrey Brook and her sister Irene Quirion. She will be missed by her children Wanda Davies, Connie Mallette (Wilfrid) Monica Gibson (John), Bernice Nielsen (Andrew) Rod Blake (Jo-Anne) her 10 grandchildren and her 21 great grand children
Mom was born in Winnipegosis, MB to parents Herbert and Clementine Brook (nee Lebel). She married Harry Blake on May 19, 1950 and moved to Longlac to start a family and their life together.
Mom was a strong, independent woman who was never shy to speak her mind or to lend a hand to whomever needed help. She loved to cook, bake, quilt & knit. She loved visits with her friends and family and was a great card player. Mom also loved to travel and loved gardening
In her younger years in Longlac Mom was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, St. John in the Wilderness Church & the Longlac Curling Club. She worked for many years as a cashier at the grocery store & was a great Avon Lady.
In 1995 mom married Paul Murphy and moved to the United States to start a new chapter in her life.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday May 4th at 9am at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church in Longlac. For those wishing memorial donations may be made to the Geraldton District Hospital Palliative Care.
