Helen Groulx (nee Skrenka)
Helen’s story began April 4, 1930 and sadly ended on December 13, 2018.
She was born in Nakina, Ontario and resided between Nakina and Toronto where she graduated from Secretarial College. She then moved to Geraldton where she met Martin who sadly predeceased her in 2010. They were lucky enough to celebrate 63 years of marriage. She had three brothers Jim, Bill and Mike who also predeceased her.
She began work at a young age at the Times Star, Ball Motors and ended her career at the Geraldton District Hospital.
Helen enjoyed golfing but loved curling where she enjoyed many a bonspiel where she had good laughs with great friends. Her leisure time was spent at camp with family and friends where the dice were rolled and the cards were shuffled.
Mother of Richard Groulx (Arvalla) of Burlington; Gary Groulx (Lidia) of Thunder Bay; Michael Groulx of Red Rock, Nancy Sutherland (Nick) of Geraldton who will miss her boisterous laughter.
She will be sadly missed by her 6 grandchildren Renee Groulx (Jason Southcomb) of Dunrobin , Michelle Davies (Kealey) of Dunrobin, Brian Groulx (Carol) of Woodbridge, Kris Groulx (Nircia) of Oakville, Dwayne Sutherland (Dorothy) of Geraldton, Lyle Sutherland of Kenora and 10 great grandchildren Cole Southcomb, Sloane Southcomb, Sawyer Davies, Logan Davies, Alexander Groulx, William Groulx, Kiara Groulx, Adrian Groulx, Dylan Sutherland and Derek Sutherland.
Cremation has taken place and her Celebration of Life will be celebrated at a later date where family and friends are invited to attend. She was dearly cared for by the Geraldton District Hospital. Those who would like to honour Helen’s memory can make donations to the Geraldton District Hospital Acute Care or Geraldton District Hospital Long Term Care.
