In Memory of Bertrand Leonce Joseph Larocque
The signs of spring are here with showers and the robins in the back yard. Dad would have been putting away the snow blower and getting the lawnmower and boat ready to head to his “secret spot”. Dad was always busy tinkering and fixing even when his ailments were getting the better of him.
Dad also loved to drive. When visiting, we would always head off into the bush where he would show off the roads he had built during his days with Kimberly Clark or while driving by Orient Bay with him telling stories of beginning his lifelong work in the bush as teenager back in those hills.
Dad was born in Opasatika Ontario as one of youngest in a typical large French Canadian family of the time. The family eventually settled and laid down roots in Geraldton where Dad lived rest of life until he left us on that cold January night.
Left behind to cherish his memory are sons Randy and Bert Jr. (Nancy), grandsons’ Bradley (Jenna) and Keith (Vantanna) and great-grandchildren Jake, Cadence and Baby Max. Also surviving are sisters Murielle, Laurianne, Denise and Aline as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bert was pre-deceased by his wife Anne-Marie, his parents Exalapha and Germaine Larocque and his siblings Alice, Marcel, Jeannine, Suzanne, Jean-Guy, Juiliette, Claire and Gaetan.
As per Dads’ wishes there will be no funeral.
The family thanks the staff of the Geraldton District Hospital for their excellent care of Dad during his final days.
We also express a special heartfelt thank to Jim Leduchowski an Micheline Boulanger for checking in on him and helping him out through the years.
