Claudette Abraham Obituary

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Claudette on Saturday Aug 28th, 2021.  Claudette was born in Geraldton on Dec. 17, 1953.  The eldest of 11 children, the first born child and daughter to Georgette and Ernie Abraham, Raised and educated locally at Ecole St. Joseph in her primary years and Geraldton Composite High School.  At the age of 17 she met and fell in love with Roger "from Killarney" Beauvais, and the rest as they say is history.....for the next few years she travelled along side Roger in his work that took him clean across the country, away from her parents and siblings (much to their dismay), eventually returning to make Nakina home for the next 44 years.

She owned and operated the Sears outlet store, and operated an after hours pizzeria.  Claudette then worked at the Township of Nakina as the municipal  clerk for 17 years. She was the force behind the Restoration of the original CNR Station, and development of Cordingley Lake Park. She also was instrumental in obtaining funding for the Nakina Airport Expansion.  During that time she and Roger realized their dream of building Cordingley Lake Cabins & Lodge, and the world famous "Claudie's Cafe", along side of many of her siblings and extended family.  She underwent a major career change once again when she left the township and became the secretary at St/ Brigid's school in Nakina until the school closed officially last year.

Her most recent venture let her to municipal politics and she became the ward Councillor representing Nakina.  Her attributes and achievements too long to list, Senior Sunrise Club secretary, Active volunteer at the Legion, Recreation Committee, Nakina Fish and Game, local food bank to name a few.  If there was anything that needed doing, organizing, cooking, sorting. fundraising for the community Claudette was more often the first to roll up her sleeves and get it done.  Her selfless care and concern for everyone and anyone knew no bounds, especially ontowards her family and larger extended family her community

 friends and colleagues.

Predeceased by her parents,Ernie (1980), Georgette (2007), brother Donnie (2003). brother in law, Mike (2017) and sister in law Brenda (2017).

Our "Brown Eyed Girl", leaves to mourn, "the one" love of her life, Roger, her partner of just shy of 50 years.  Her brothers Claude (Jane), Steve, Donnie's children, (Vicki, D. J. and Jamie), sisters, Susie, Theresa (Dave), Margie (Gilbert), Yvonne (Yves), Germaine (Dennis), Georgette, Donna (Milan-Poncho), and their children and grandchildren (too numerous to mention).

A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.

Family and friends are invited to attend Pinegrove Cemetary on Thursday Sept. 2 at 11 a.m.
In Nakina on Friday Sept 3, at 5 p.m. at the Nakina Legion.
