Gérald Pelletier (1945 – 2020)

 

Entouré de l’amour de sa famille, Gérald Lucien Pelletier est décédé paisiblement le lundi 27 janvier 2020 à l’hôpital du district de Geraldton, à l’âge de 74 ans.

Sa famille et ses amis lui ont permis de vivre son dernier trajet avec bravoure et positivisme tout le long de sont diagnostique.

Gérald est né à White Brook, au Nouveau-Brunswick. Il était le plus jeune des 13 enfants de Marie-Anne et Phydime Pelletier. À l’âge de 17 ans, il épouse l’amour de sa vie, Claudette, à Montréal. C’est en 1970 qu’ils s’établissent en Ontario avec leurs 3 enfants. Gérald venait d’accepter un emploi à la boulangerie de Geraldton. Il se trouve ensuite un emploi, quelques années plus tard, avec la compagnie Kimberly-Clark, où il finit par œuvrer pendant 30 ans. Gérald adorait la nature et a partagé cet amour en chassant, pêchant et campant avec sa famille et ses amis. Gérald était cloué devant sa télé à encourager son équipe préférée, les Canadiens de Montréal, lors de la ‘soirée du hockey’ du samedi soir.

Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Claudette Pelletier (Racicot), après 57 ans de mariage. Il laisse aussi dans le deuil ses enfants : Diane (Joey) Gagnon de Geraldton, Alain (Donna) Pelletier de Geraldton et Sylvain (Tammy) Pelletier de Thunder Bay.; ainsi que ses petits-enfants : Amy, Tiffany (Dimitri), Allison (Tim), et Brian (Brianna) et ses arrière-petits-enfants : Chloe et son tout nouveau ti-pit, Edward. Gérald laisse également dans le deuil plusieurs amis de longue date qu’il a eu le plaisir de faire la connaissance à travers Le Moose Lodge, les chevaliers de colomb et le Club canadien français de Geraldton.

It is with great sorrow the family of Gerald Lucien Pelletier announce his peaceful passing, at the age of 74, on the morning of January 27th, 2020 at the Geraldton District Hospital. His bravery and positivity throughout his diagnosis was carried on until the end, which was spent with friends and family by his side.

Gerald was born in White Brook, New Brunswick to Marie-Anne and Phydime Pelletier and was the youngest of 13 children. At the age of 17 he married the love of his life Claudette in Montreal. In 1970 they moved to Ontario with their three young children as Gerald had acquired a job at the Geraldton Bakery. A few years later he gained employment with Kimberly-Clark where he worked for 30 years. Gerald was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.  Every Saturday the TV was tuned into Hockey Night in Canada where he cheered on his favourite team the Montreal Canadians.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years Claudette Pelletier (Racicot), children Diane (Joey) Gagnon, Alain (Donna) Pelletier of Geraldton and Sylvain (Tammy) Pelletier of Thunder Bay, grandchildren, Amy, Tiffany (Dimitri), Allison (Tim) and Brian (Brianna) his great grandchildren Chloe, and his newest ti-pit, Edward. Gerald will also be missed by the many friends that he made throughout the years of living and being an active member of many groups in the community including the Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus and the French Club.
