Joseph Wesley Obituary

Joseph Wesley (Slo-Joe)

July 22, 1950 – September 28, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our dear brother Joseph (Slo-Joe) Wesley on September 28, 2020.  He will be dearly missed by nieces, nephews, extended family, cousins, friends and siblings.

Slo-Joe had a big heart.  He was a kind hearted man, always willing to lend a helping hand.  He cared deeply for his family, especially his nieces and nephews.  He loved attending annual family gatherings, sharing stories and halfhearted jokes that he never finished telling, but we would always have a good laugh.  Joe also liked to sing. He surprised us one day when he was called to the stage to do some karaoke-ing at one of our many family gatherings.  He did an awesome rendition of Roy Orbison and became known to his family and friends as “The Legend”.  For those of us who were fortunate to be surrounded by his presence, we will always remember how much joy he gave us when he came to visit.  We will miss him dearly but it gives us peace to know that he is with our Creator and all his loved ones who have gone before him.

Joe leaves behind his siblings, Annie and Louise, both of Calgary; Frances (Fred), Stella, and brother Dave all of Thunder Bay, adopted brother, Lindsay (Verna) also of Thunder Bay; Theresa of Aroland; Helen (Leslie) of Whitefish Bay; Lucia (George) of Longlac; Yvonne (Eric) of Wikwemikong; and Alice of Toronto.

Joe is predeceased by parents, Sam and Imelda, brothers Robert, Stanley, Steven and sisters, Dorothy and Mary.
