Marcel Depelteau Obituary

Depelteau, Marcel.

It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of our father, brother and grandfather, Marcel Depelteau on November 24, 2023 at the Geraldton District Hospital at the age of 77. He was surrounded by his family who loved him as well as Pastor Scott.

Our father was born in Montreal, Quebec on January 28, 1946.  At a young age his family moved to Timmins, Ontario where he eventually met the love of his life, Diane Snyder. After their first son, Michael was born he moved his family to Churchill, Manitoba where their second son, Hector was born.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator and trucker driver.  After a life changing motorcycle accident he relocated his family back to Timmins and was able to continue working.  Shortly after his daughter Carmen was born they moved to  Beardmore, Ontario where he was a heavy equipment instructor for Domtar as well as a truck driver for Veilleux Trucking at Weldwood.  He spent many years recovering from a 1981 train/truck accident.

He had a great sense of humour and loved to share his years of experience with fellow truckers.  He enjoyed travel, having coffee with the boys.  He also loved getting out to enjoy music, playing cards and placing $1.00 bets.  He enjoyed eating, especially sweets and was an avid sports fan.  His random gifting to others, his ambition, smile and presence will forever be with us and whoever had the pleasure of knowing him.

He will be lovingly missed by his children Michael (Chantal Savard), Hector (Angela) and Carmen (Jimmy Del Bianco); his siblings Chuck (June), Leo (Manon), Andé and Claire.  He is survived by 4 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents Beatrice and Hector Depelteau and his 2 grandsons Joshua and Christopher.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dimova, Dr. Leah and the staff of both the Geraldton District Hospital and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center for their compassion and excellent care.  A thank you also goes out to Paramed Health Services and Westway.

A Celebration of Marcel’s life will take place in the spring of 2024, he will be interred later in Timmins.

For those wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Geraldton District Hospital.

We love you dad and our lives are truly blessed. You are our “Saint” and we will miss you dearly.  Pat is waiting for her dollar! She caught the Joker thief.

King Elvis Marcel, you rock! xoxox
