Marlow Wesley Obituary

Marlow Joseph Wesley, age 76 years, passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 with his family by his side.

Marlow was born in Longlac, Ontario, on May 19th, 1946. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Monique; children Neil, Darrell, Wayne, Duane (Candice), Renee, Nick (Danielle), Natasha (Troy); step son Carl (Michelle); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings Louis (Riva), Anne-Marie, Ed (Maxine), Hawkins and Kenny; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Marlow was predeceased by his son, Marcel; his parents Sinclair and Emilie (nee Fisher); father in law Desiré Levesque; mother in law Anne Marie Levesque (nee Gauthier).

Marlow was born and raised to live on the land. Marlow worked hard for all of his life to provide for his family and he never complained in the process. He was a great hunter, fisherman and provider for his family. He worked many jobs around the community, some of which included: Lead Hand and various positions at the Longlac Saw Mill, Tug Operator and Captain, and he also owned his own Taxi Service. Marlow became, and proudly served as Chief for his community of Long Lake #58, and also a councillor for many years. Marlow will be remembered as an elder who was healthily involved with his community, Long Lake #58 First Nation. He was a well respected leader, social worker, and devoted advocate for the youth and future generations.

Marlow ensured that his knowledge and teachings were passed down to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always there for you, whenever he was called upon and he never said no or asked questions.

Marlow had a very outgoing personality, a laugh that was one of a kind and a smile that would light up the room. He enjoyed going to gatherings, long drives in the bush, hunting, fishing, trapping, and getting himself into trouble. He was a very caring man, and when he would lend a helping hand, he enjoyed it with all of his heart.

Marlow will be forever missed by everybody that he is survived by.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at 11:00 am, at the Longlac Pentecostal Church.
