Raymond Joseph Arthur Lafontaine

It is with heavy hearts, the family announces Raymond’s passing at the Geraldton District Hospital on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at the age of 82.  Beloved husband of Nicole (née St-Pierre) and dearest father of Tammy Poulin (Serge) of Winnipeg, MB, Alana Hunt (Thomas) of Geraldton, ON and sons Christopher and Andrew Lafontaine of Illinois, USA.

Raymond was born on June 8, 1941 in Parry Sound, ON, the son of Amédé (Endy) Lafontaine and Blanche (Gauthier) Lafontaine.

He worked at Longlac Wood Industries until his retirement in 2006 at the age of 65.

Raymond (better known as Ray or Rayzor) lived a simple life.  He loved trapping, fishing, gardening (sharing his lettuce and dill with everyone) and blueberry picking.  He also loved people and always enjoyed chatting with everyone on his daily outings but his greatest love was his family which always came first.

He will be sadly missed by his 4 grandchildren; Daniel Poulin, Erik Poulin, Erika Hunt (Nicholas), Emily Hunt and 1 great grandson Dante Falcetta as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Raymond is survived by his sister Raymonde Turcotte (André) of Thunder Bay, ON, sister-in-law Shirley Lafontaine of Thunder Bay, ON, sister and brother –in-law Louise and Dave Ennis of Spruce Grove, AB, sister-in-law Suzie St-Pierre (Bertrand Comeau) of Stettler, AB.  He is predeceased by his parents, brothers Gérrard, Silvio, Harvey, Gabriel and Amédé, mother and father –in-law Thérése and Henri St-Pierre and brother-in-law Brian Antonson.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 30th at 11:00am at St. Theresa R.C. Church in Geraldton followed by a Celebration of Life at the Geraldton French Club from 1:00pm -4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Raymond’s memory to the Ontario Lung Association or Geraldton District Hospital.
