A lifelong resident of the Aroland First Nation, Richard “Ringo” Towedo passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2020, in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Richard was born and raised in Aroland, Ontario. He was one of ten children born to the late Harry and Emma Towedo. Richard will forever be remembered by his devoted brothers: Raymond Towedo, John Towedo, and Philip Towedo (Annamarie) and his loving sister Margaret Matasawagon, all of the Aroland First Nation.

He will forever be treasured by his children: Jesse (Krista), Jeffrie, and Daniel, and his pride and joy, his Grandson Noah. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren and extended family members who were very blessed to know him.

He is predeceased by his brothers; Charlie Towedo, Tony Sam Towedo, Paul Towedo and Fred Sr. Towedo, sister; Alice Towedo, brother-in-law Donald Matasawagon, sister-in-law Dorothy Towedo, Nephew, Fred Towedo Jr., Niece Dawn Matasawagon, Great-Niece Nicole Towedo, and Grand-daughter Layla.

Richard was a proud Montreal Canadiens fan. His favorite pass times included listening to old rock & roll songs such as the Rolling Stones, ACDC, and many others. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, bush riding. He was a warm, welcoming, and a kind person with a positive outlook on life and had a fundamental faith in humanity. He could always put you at ease with his stories.

His everyday ventures included spending quality time with his grandson Noah and helping the community when needed. Richard was always busy helping others. He made everyone feel special. That was his gift to everyone. He will be truly missed by all who knew him very well.
