Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our dearly loved brother,brother-in-law,uncle,and friend,Roger Beauvais.,passed away peacefully, with his family by his side on Thursday Aug.11, 2022. At the age of 74 years old.

His departure time was  such, that he could spend some time in the spiritual world with his beloved Claudette, his Mom and Dad and his siblings and friends who went before him, then make his spiritual appearance at the next Jays game, where he would be swearing profanities ,while enjoying a Coors Light, and Export “A”cigarette.

He leaves behind his brothers, Dan (Nancy ), Paul(Candy),Dean. Sisters Margie (Guy), Catherine, Carolyn(Jim),Tracey(Al) …Many nieces, nephews& cousins. His other family in Nakina and Geraldton,”The Abrahams” who considered him one of theirs.

He was predeceased by the love of his life Claudette Abraham (Aug. 28th 2021)whom we are forever grateful, for her selfless care and dedication to him throughout their 50 years together. His loving parents Margaret and Norman Beauvais, sisters Doreen,Frances Ann. Brothers Howard& Elwyn.

Roger left home in 1965 to join the Air Force. In1969 he went pipelining and in 1977-2003 he was employed by the Civil Service of Ontario, Ministry of the Environment as chief operator/mechanic/Superintendent., Ontario Clean Water Agency-assistant operations manager.Moved to Nakina from Geraldton in 1977,He was the owner operator of Cordingly Lake Cabins, councilor in Nakina and became Reeve for Nakina form 1988-1998.

Roger volunteered and was past president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 116.  Nakina recreation complex, St.Brigid Catholic school, Nakina Senior Sunrise Club.

Roger and Claudette worked hard to get Cordingly Lake Cabins up and running, and were the greatest hosts to their guests. He had a great sense of humour and loved to entertain, whether it be be sitting around the camp fire telling stories, talking politics or probably arguing, since he loved a good argument. That is of course when he wasn’t listening to CBC radio, which he played so loud that everyone else could hear. As someone once said “Roger Watches CBC Radio” He loved Nakina, and had many friends there and many American friends who were guests at the lake..

He came back to Killarney last year for a visit with his family and health issues kept him there until he went into the hospital in Sudbury in May.He was determined to go back “home” to Nakina.and he finally got his wish in July.

We would like to thank Theresa and Georgette for being there when he got home, and Theresa looking after his meals etc. Your time with Roger did not go unnoticed. To his nurses that came to the house, Pat,and Paulette,Stephanie the housekeeper, Ellie at the Nakina Clinic, thank you .

We would like to thank Dr Zufelt at the Geraldton Hospital for his kindness and care of Roger, Dr. Desruisseaux, for her care and her visit with us in his room before and after ,she is a true treasure. To the nurses in palliative care for taking such good care of us and him and allowing us to come and go as we pleased. To Cathy and Frank at the Nakina Legion we appreciate all you have done for Roger ,A special thank you to Germaine and Dennis for opening their home to the Beauvais family during our time in Geraldton. To all his friends in Nakina and Geraldton A huge thank you for being a part of his life,he loved you all.

A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says,
“Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times,
the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived
while I was strong.
