Ruth M. Ricard Obituary

RICARD, Ruth M.

November 10, 1944 – February 2, 2021

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ruth Ricard of Hornepayne, Ontario. Ruth died at Hornepayne Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.  Proud mother of Stephen (Amy) of Hornepayne and Greg (Mary Lou) of Seaforth. Loving grandmother of Allison, Gavin, Alex, Bruce, and Samantha. Survived by sister Linda Crawford (Bracebridge).  Predeceased by her beloved husband Jerry, father and mother Harry and Phyllis Crawford (Bracebridge), brother Bruce Crawford (Bracebridge), father-in-law Percy Ricard (Thunder Bay), and sisters -in-law Diane (Kitchener) and Lyn (Kitchener).

Ruth loved gardening and spending time at the cottage with Jerry. Ruth was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 194 Ladies Auxiliary. In her younger years, she enjoyed curling, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing on the Buttercup Trails. Ruth loved to paint, knit and quilt. She enjoyed time spent with the Couples Club and participated in the Mother’s Auxiliary when her sons were in Cubs and Scouts.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.  A special thank you to medical staff and all others who were involved in her care.  If so desired, donations in memory of Ruth may be directed to the Northern Cancer Fund through the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.
