It is with great sadness and heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mom Shura at the John Owen Evans Residence on June 3, 2020 at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Jack (2003).
Shura (Alexandra) was one of eight children born to Peter and Maria Frolova in Smolensk,Russia on October 25,1922.
During the war she worked as a nanny for a doctor’s family in Germany until she met and married Jack, her husband of 58 years. After the war, they moved to Belgium for 6 years.
In 1951 they immigrated to Canada with their daughter Vera and settled in Geraldton where their son Mike was later born.
Shura worked at the Geraldton Bakery for 35 years. She and her husband Jack dedicated their time to making a better life for their family.
After retiring, she became an active member of the Seniors Club and volunteered at the church and hospital.
In the early years, she loved to garden, knit, bake entertain and dance the polka. Shura was known for her delicious cabbage rolls and perogies throughout the town. She also enjoyed playing bingo and lawn bowling.
Shura had a Heart of Gold. She will be remembered by her friends for her kindness and generosity. She was a loving and caring mom to her daughter Vera and son Mike (Lise)
She will be remembered and cherished as the doting and well- loved Baba by her granddaughters Kim, Jerri-Ann (Norm), Jenna (Wesley), Michelle (Chris), Amanda (Brett) and great grandchildren Trevor, Alex, Deason, Danielle, Noah, MacKenzie, Amelia and Aleigha.
A special thank you for the excellent care provided to Shura by all the staff at the John Owen Evans Residence where she resided for the past six years.
Due to the current restrictions of the ongoing pandemic, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
Donations will be graciously accepted in memory of Shura to the John Owen Evans Residence.
Shura will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
