Stanley James Swereda

The family announces with sorrow his death at the Geraldton District Hospital on Saturday September 16, 2023 at the age of 76.  Beloved husband of Rose (nee Korbyl) and dearest father of; Adeline (David), Stanley (Nicole) ,George (Tracy) ,Susan (Paul) .

He is survived by brother Gordon Swereda, sister MaryAnn Geertsma, sister-in-laws Monica Swereda, and Cathy Swereda.

He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren:  Stephanie, Ashley, Deanna, Katelyn, Shyla, Kiarra, Javanna, Ashton, Caleb, Natashia, Rachelle, Zarek and Lukas, great-grandchildren Aiden, Colton, Wyatt and Quinn, Godson Melvin as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by brothers Melvin, Bob, John, Eddie, brother-in-law Jake and sister-in-law Lynn.

Stanley was a long time Geraldton resident.  He was born and raised in Geraldton, met the love of his life in Alberta then returned to Geraldton to raise their 4 children.  He had various jobs but then settled into self employment at his garage, Stan’s Esso with his family.  Upon retirement he spent his remaining years enjoying life.

A huge thank you to Dr Zufelt, Dorothy Sutherland, GDH nurses, Geraldton EMS and his very important homecare workers as well as many others that cared for him during his years of illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday September, 23 at 10:00 a.m. at  Geraldton Faith Chapel  with Pastor Jim Poelman officiating with a light lunch to follow.  Donations to Geraldton District Hospital or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.  Messages of condolences may be placed at Fawcett Funeral website at:  www.rfffh.com.
